Iskcon Vrindavan is the abbreviation for International Society for Krishna Consciousness.
Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada established this beautiful temple in the year 1966.
In fact, Iskcon Temple at Vrindavan is the very first temple out of other 6000 temples that were constructed in 1975.
Today, this stunning shrine is the most beautiful temple of Vrindavan.
However, the main aim of Iskcon Vrindavan was to generate the general well-being of mankind. But, the immediate aim was to popularise the teachings of Bhagwad Gita. It is the holy book of Hindus and Vedic scriptures.
The temple stands on the banks of Yamuna River, exactly where Lord Krishna used to herd cows along with his brother, Balarama. The magnificent temple comes into the sight of a tourist as and when it enters the holy lands of Mathura district.
The main area of the temple is called “Samadhi” of A.C Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada. It is completely made of white marble and the smooth image of the swami adds to its beauty. This is the place where the body of Swami was kept.
Various ceremonies are conducted throughout the day in the name of Lord. Also, you will notice many foreigners around the temple complex. Moreover, these people specially come from their homelands to serve the Lord.
